TIPS AND PICKS FOR A FESTIVE, STRESS-FREE SEASON
Brightest
Bulb
Open for the holidays
The
breathtaking blooms of amaryllis
light up any mantel or tabletop.
Plant bulbs now to brighten your
home by the end of the year.
1
PLANT BY THE CALENDAR
Amaryllis bulbs typically
bloom 6-8 weeks after
planting. Pick the date when you
want flowers, then count backward
to determine your planting date.
2
NOT TOO DEEP
Plant the bulbs with the
“shoulders” exposed. Use
ordinary potting mix in a small
container, water when the top inch
of soil is dry, and make sure the
container has drain holes.
Pick a color
Amaryllis comes
in white, red, and
several variations
in between.
Shown

‘Cherry
Nymph’. To buy,
go to BHG.com/
cherrynymph, or
call 800/420-
2852 and specify
M085328.
Snug fit
Almost any
container will
do, even a small
one like this flea
market find.
Amaryllis actually
enjoys a tight fit.
